This Workshop will count as Pony Club CPD for Coaches on the PC Coach Database.
Places are strictly limited to 12 as this is an interactive workshop.
This workshop is the third step on the Assessor Pathway, following on for the D & D+ and C Test Assessor workshops, and is for people interested in progressing up the pathway to assess C+ Tests. It will also focus on the new Spurs Test and the new Spurs Element within The C Plus Test.
Before attending this workshop, you will have a clear idea of the level required of the C+ Test Care and Riding and be coaching this level regularly. Anyone assessing at this level or above is welcome to attend as a refresher. It is also suitable for those training members for C Plus Tests. This 3-hour workshop aims to clarify and develop the skills required to assess PC C+ Tests. The following topics will be covered: • The Pony Club Test Structure, assessor requirements and application process for members • Clarification of what is expected for ‘C+ Test’ Riding and Care • Preparation for the Test Day including timetabling, assessment paperwork & questions • Practical assessment of venue – equipment & props • Practical observation and questioning of Riding and Care sections of the Test • Working alongside another assessor • Delivering appropriate feedback.
Attendees will receive written feedback to take from the workshop, with guidance on how to progress.
Attendees are expected to shadow at, at least, one C+ Test before Assessing alongside an experienced Assessor.
What do participants need to bring? Please bring a clip board and the following documents: • C+ Care and Riding Efficiency Tests c-plus-test-care-2023.pdf (pcuk.org) c-plus-test-riding-2024-.pdf (pcuk.org)
What do participants need to wear? This is a hands on, practical course, with some time spent in a classroom environment and some time working with PC members. Please dress appropriately to assess. Clean boots, tidy hair and remember that the demo riders will have made a big effort to be there and you will expect them to be well turned out.
