Prize Giving for Triathlon only will be at Horseheath at the end of the Run phase at the Barn (near the Run)

TETRATHLON THE STEPPINGSTONE MINIMUS ‘REGIONAL’ TEAM COMPETITION will be held at The Tetrathlon Championships 2024. The Area 8 Eastern Regional Team members will be chosen from the results of the Minimus Area 8 competition. This is a Regional Team not a PC Team consisting of combined competitors from Area 6 & 8 for the Eastern Region. The teams can be mixed girls & boys. The top Area 12 boy and girl Mini Tetrathlete will be nominated for the Central England Region.

TETRATHLON CLASSES FOR ALL TETRATHLON COMPETITORS will be at the Secretary’s Trailer at the completion of the event. Rosettes to 6th Place in ALL individual classes. Medals for best Shoot/Bean Bag Throw score, Swim & Run in all classes. Team rosettes to 3rd place

For Beanies & Tadpoles Teams – a team to comprise 3 or 4 competitors from the same Pony Club in the same age group (best three scores to count). Teams can be mixed.

Minimus, Junior, Intermediate & Open Teams – teams will be separated into Area 12 & 8 with their own Area cups/trophies.

TETRATHLON/TRIATHLON RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1. The Official Steward’s decision is final.

2. Rules are in the Pony Club Tetrathlon Rule Book 2024, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.pcuk.org

3. STRICTLY NO DOGS ALLOWED AT ANY OF THE VENUES.

4. ALL GATES INTO & OUT OF HORSEHEATH RACECOURSE MUST BE KEPT SHUT AT ALL TIMES

5. Competitors must be at the start of each event at least 15 minutes before they are due to compete.

SHOOT/BEAN BAG

6. Please could ALL competitors check in with the secretary on arrival at the Shoot/Bean Bag

7. Shoot targets will be given to you once your gun is checked in.

8. No person under the age of 18 may be in possession of or carry an air pistol unless in the presence of The Chief Range Officer or Firing Point Steward.

9. Safety flags (safety line can be strimmer cord), must be inserted in all pistols at all times except when the safety flag removal is authorised by the Firing Point Steward. To demonstrate that air guns are unloaded, safety flags (safety lines) must be long enough to extend through the full length of the barrel.

10. Guns must be kept in boxes until instructed otherwise by the shooting steward.

11. Protective or prescription glasses are recommended for the Shoot Phase at all levels and are mandatory for Shooting at 7 metres.

12. Substantial shoes (that do not reach the anklebone, but which cover the whole foot – e.g. trainers, must be worn for the Shoot as well as long trousers/track suit bottoms.

13. Competitors must be 8 years old or over on 13/7/2024 to be allowed to Shoot.

14. Beanbags will be judged from where the Velcro attaches to the ‘target’.

15. Scored targets can be collected from the Secretary by the Team Manager either before you leave Hall Barn, Thurlow or from The Green Barn at Horseheath Racecourse (near the run) These must be checked and signed for before being taken away. No queries can be upheld once targets have been removed or if not collected/signed for 20 minutes after your Run time.

SWIM

16. Only one person per competitor allowed ‘poolside’.

17. There will be no Diving Blocks used in any Classes.

18. Swimming aids allowed in Beanie Classes ONLY

PLEASE ONLY REQUEST AN OUTSIDE LANE IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY AS TIME AT THE POOL IS VERY LIMITED & WE NEED TO SWIM 6 IN EACH HEAT IF POSSIBLE – THANK YOU

19. Clean shoes MUST be worn at the Pool

20. No photography/video at the Pool please

21. On the entry form you will be asked to upload your dive certificate.

The Pool requires no dive certificates BUT only Minimus Classes and above will be permitted to dive N.B. DIVING CERTIFICATES ARE OBLIGATORY AT THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

RUN

22. Running will take place at one-minute intervals in number order for Beanies, Tadpoles & Minimus.

Juniors, Intermediate & Open will run in ‘heats’. Please bring your own clearly & boldly written run numbers in A5 size, x 2 as well as 8 safety pins to attach them to your run vest or use ‘sticky’ numbers.

RIDE PHASE 

23. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TADPOLES (CLASS 3 & 4) WILL RIDE BEFORE THE BEANIES (CLASS 1 & 2) & IN NUMBER ORDER.

24. Competitors in Classes 3 –12 may ride in the class below but will incur 500 penalties. This must be declared when entering & competitors will not be eligible for the Championships. Beanies may be lead (500 penalties) or assisted (400 penalties) N.B. There will be a number of ‘L’ fences in Classes 5 – 12

25. PLEASE SUPPLY YOUR OWN NUMBER BIBS & RIDE NUMBERS (2 x A4) FOR ALL CLASSES

26. ALL HORSES/PONIES MUST BE FULLY & CORRECTLY VACCINATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PONY CLUB TETRATHLON RULE BOOK 2024 PASSPORTS WILL BE RANDOMLY CHECKED. IF YOU DO NOT COMPLY YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPETE AND THERE WILL BE NO REFUND.

27. It is the responsibility of every competitor to ensure that their hat and body protector complies with The Pony Club 2024 Rules and are compulsory for all competitors.

These will be checked & any competitor not wearing one that complies with current Pony Club standards will NOT be able to compete.

N.B. NEW BODY PROTECTOR RULE FOR 2024 FOR ALL CLASSES ALL BODY PROTECTORS MUST MEET BETA 2018 LEVEL 3 STANDARD (BLUE & BLACK LABEL)

If your hat is NOT tagged with the current PINK hat tag please go, unmounted, with your hat to the collecting ring steward.

28. WHIP RULE: Please adhere to Pony Club Whip Rules 2023: The whip must be “padded”. The maximum length of the whip is 70cm and must be no less than 45cm. Excessive use of the whip anywhere at the venue will result in disqualification.

29. Health & Safety: Organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers, officials and stewards.

30. No horses or ponies must be left unaccompanied at any time.

31. Horseboxes with gas cookers/rings must be used with caution, entirely at the owner’s risk.

32. No person may sit on, or climb, any jump or fence.

33. Entry to the competition is dependent upon and deemed as acceptance of these rules

Legal Liability: Save for the death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers, or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the organisers of this event or The Pony Club nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies, nor the landlord or his tenant, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever. Entries are only accepted on this basis.

OBJECTIONS  Please note that any objection to the scoring for each discipline may only be made by the team manager, and within 20 minutes of the scores being displayed. In any dispute the decision of the Official Steward shall be final. The Stewards reserve the right to amend, alter or cancel all or any of the conditions without notice
