All classes will be spilt where Appropriate and if sufficient numbers

 

Qualifiers

Ridden Championship-First and Second from each class is eligible

Quest Championship-1st, 2nd and 3rd from the TGCA classes above may go forward to the Quest for a Star Championship as per below rule. ONLY current TGCA members and horse/pony that is already TGCA registered can exhibit in this championship. Membership card and Members qualification card (specific to that exhibit) must be presented upon entry into the ring. The Champion and Reserve qualify for the Ultimate Star Championships at TOYS.

Go For Glory Championship -1st, 2nd and 3rd from the TGCA part bred classes may go forward to the Go for Glory Championship. For 2024 TOYS qualifiers, the handler/rider and exhibits (apart from stallions) do not have to be TGCA members/registered on the date of the show. The Champion and Reserve qualify for the Crowning Glory Championships at TOYS.

SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIP- Champion & Reserve from the In-Hand Championship and Ridden Championship

Open to members and non-members. All competitors and grooms must adhere to VHS Rules in all circumstances. Failure to do so may result in immediate disqualification.

VHS Regional Final qualification. All competitors placed 1st to 4th in each age category will qualify for the corresponding class at VHS Regional Finals. Members must carry their cards in the ring and have their showing card signed by the judge in the ring as proof of qualification. Non-members will receive a red qualification card which can be exchanged for signed showing card when applying for VHS membership. This MUST be done within 21 days of qualification. It is the competitors’ responsibility to present their Showing card to the judge.

Those wishing to join or renew with the Society will need to apply for this before 1st May each year or a late penalty fee of £15 will be charged.

Regional Finals are open to members only.

All competitors are eligible to enter open classes at the National Veteran Championships, to be held at Arena UK, Lincolnshire on 29th August – 31st August 2025. No qualification or membership necessary. See VHS website for schedule which is available mid-season 2025.

1. EQUIFEST OPEN RIDDEN MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND

Open to Mountain & Moorland ponies registered with their respective Pure Bred Societies of Connemara, Dales, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Shetland, Welsh A, B, C and D. Stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over. Rider any age.

Classes may be divided according to entries.

 

2. EQUIFEST OPEN MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND LEAD REIN

Open to Mountain & Moorland ponies, registered with their respective Pure Bred Societies of Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest, Shetland and Welsh A or B. Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cms. Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1stJanuary in the current year. To be led by an attendant and shown in a Snaffle Bridle, the lead rein to be attached to the noseband only.

 

3. EQUIFEST MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND FIRST RIDDEN

Open to Mountain & Moorland ponies, registered with their respective Pure Bred Societies of Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest, Shetland, and Welsh A or B. Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cms. Riders not to have attained their 12th birthday before 1stJanuary in the current year. To be shown in any suitable bridle.

4. EQUIFEST OPEN SHOW PONY LEAD REIN

Leading Rein Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over not exceeding 128cms. Riders not to have attained their 8th birthday before 1stJanuary in the current year. To be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bridle. Lead rein to be attached to the noseband only.

 

5. EQUIFEST OPEN SHOW PONY FIRST RIDDEN

First Ridden Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cms. Riders not to have attained their 10th birthday before 1stJanuary in the current year. To be shown in any suitable bridle.

 

6. EQUIFEST OPEN RIDDEN SHOW PONIES

Open Show Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 148cms. Any suitable sized rider.

Classes may be divided as follows:

• Show Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cms.

• Show Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 128cms but not exceeding 138cms.

19. EQUIFEST  OPEN RIDDEN COBS

Open Ridden Cob, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 155cms. To be shown hogged and trimmed. Riders any age.

Classes may be divided as follows:

• Open Lightweight Ridden Cob, mare or gelding, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 155cms.  To be shown hogged and trimmed. Riders any age.

• Open Heavyweight Ridden Cob, mare or gelding, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 155cms.  To be shown hogged and trimmed. Riders any age.

 

20. EQUIFEST OPEN MAXI COBS

Open Maxi Cobs, mare or gelding 4 years old and over, exceeding 155cms – to be judged as a Cob. To be shown hogged and trimmed. Riders any age.

 

21. EQUIFEST OPEN RE-TRAINED RACE HORSES

Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4 years old & over, any height.  Horses must have been raced in the GB to be eligible to compete. Riders any age.

 

23. OPEN IN HAND VETERAN HORSE / PONY **NEW FOR 2025**

Stallion, mare or gelding, 15 years old and over.  Any type or breed.

Classes may be divided according to entries.

 

24. OPEN RIDDEN VETERAN HORSE / PONY

Stallion, mare or gelding, 15 years old and over.  Any type or breed.  Any suitable sized rider.

Classes may be divided according to entries.

 

25. EQUIFEST IN HAND PIEBALD / SKEWBALD

Open in Hand Piebald / Skewbald stallion, mare, colt, filly or gelding, any age. The first three places will also qualify for the BSPA Championships subject to their show rules & conditions

26. EQUIFEST RIDDEN PIEBALD / SKEWBALD

Open ridden Piebald / Skewbald stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over. Riders any age. The first three places will also qualify for the BSPA Championship subject to their show rules & conditions.  Spurs may not be worn by any rider on a pony (not exceeding 153cms).  No pony under 153cms will be ridden by the Judge.

27. EQUIFEST OPENIN HAND RIDING / HUNTER PONIES

In Hand Riding / Hunter ponies, stallion, mare, colt, filly or gelding.  Any age, not to exceed 153cms at maturity.

Terms and Conditions

1.Under no circumstances must horses/ponies be left unattended unless securely boxed and must not be left tethered in the vicinity of the show ring or to the outside of vehicles.

2. Horses, ponies and riders age as of 1st January in the current year.

3. The Judge’s decision is final. Any confrontation with a judge is strictly forbidden.

4. Competitors and spectators must conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Any use of bad language or behaviour which may bring the club into disrepute will result in disciplinary action

. 5. CHILDREN MUST BE KEPT UNDER ADULT CONTROL.

6. No unauthorised person(s) are allowed in the ring at any time.

7. Points trophies will be awarded in each class to the competitor gaining most points over the same season with the same horse/pony/rider/handler combination. Points will only be awarded for the March. April, May, June, August & September shows. Competitors need to attend a minimum of TWO shows to be eligible for points awards.

8. All lead rein competitors must be led by an adult (16 years and over). The lead rein must be attached to the noseband NOT the bit.

9. All ridden horses & ponies competing must be 4 years old and over. All competitors must be of a suitable size and weight for the horse/pony they are riding. 10. All competitors must be correctly dressed whilst mounted, leading and in the ring. British Standard hard hats must be worn. Chin straps and jackets must be fastened correctly. Arms must be covered. Correct footwear must be worn. Body protectors may be worn.

11. All dogs must be on a lead and kept under control. PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER THEM.

12. NO RESPONSIBILITY IS ACCEPTED BY LODGE FARM FOR ANY ACCIDENT, INJURY OR LOSS OF PROPERTY REGARDLESS OF HOW THIS IS CAUSED.

13. LODGE FARM REQUIRE THAT ALL COMPETITORS MUST CARRY PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE WITH A MINIMUM OF THIRD-PARTY COVER.

14. Stallions must be handled by a person (14 Years and over for large breeds and 12 years and over for small breeds) and be correctly bitted. Riders of small breeds must be 12 years old and over. All stallions/colts must be correctly bitted at all times whilst on the showground. Riders of large breeds must be 14 years old and over.

15. Anyone attending the shows is asked to place litter in the bins provided or take it home. PLEASE…..poo-pick, there is equipment provided.

16. No spurs to be worn for riders age 16 or below and in novice/beginners classes.

17. The miss use of spurs is an offence and if used (seniors) you must take care that the manner in which they are used does not offend

18. Whips to be no longer than 75cm (30 inches)

19. No visible body piercings to be worn, if seen you will be asked to remove them.

20. Competitors need to attend a minimum of TWO shows to be eligible for points awards.
