An opportunity to enjoy a 5 or 10 mile horse ride around beautiful wooded areas, tracks, open spaces and valley views across the glorious Hertfordshire countryside. Please note there is a small amount of road work on each route that will be marshalled. In addition we have a short lead rein ride around the internal area of the Polo Club for the younger riders wanting to join in the fun! By kind permission of Silver Leys Polo Club all rides will start and finish within the grounds. Please use what 3 words for locating us within the grounds – faced.covers.upon This sponsored ride is for the benefit of Herts and Essex Borders Riding for the Disabled Group. We are a small group riding at Brook Farm Cottage in Furneaux Pelham. Start between 0930hrs and 1200hs. Please note we would like you to finish and be off the course by 3pm. Start time are available in half hour slots. There will be no jumps on any of the planned routes. The 10 mile route will be an extension to the 5 mile route giving riders an opportunity to change the length of their ride if their circumstances change. Please no dogs on the course. Dogs are permitted in the car park but must be kept on leads at all times. Please no bikes on the course. Class1, the lead rein ride may be ridden multiple times for a single entry fee but only one rosette will be awarded. All lead rein riders must be accompanied by a responsible individual over the age of 16. All riders under 16 years of age wishing to take part in the 5 and 10 mile rides will need to be accompanied by a responsible individual over the age of 16 years. The 5 and 10 mile rides will start with a walk. The start runs alongside the lead rein ride so not only will the walk allow riders to settle in it will also provide a safe environment for the lead rein riders. At the midway point will be a refreshment station for both horse and rider. We will have a fund raising cake and refreshments area at the start/finish. All donations will go towards the Herts and Essex Borders RDA, please remember to bring cash if you would like to indulge. Your generosity is much appreciated. We will have a Just Giving page for any further donations friends, family or associates may wish to make supporting your venture.
Herts and Essex Borders RDA Ride for a Reason conditions of entry
No ponies or horses under the age of 4
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
All riders are responsible for their own insurance.
Times to start from 0930hrs and the last riders must leave the start no later than 1300hrs.
Please register with the secretary before you start the ride. You will need to confirm a contact mobile number, collect a number and emergency contact details. We strongly recommend you have What 3 Words installed on your phone in case of an emergency.
All riders must report to the start on arrival and the finish when returning. If you retire early, please ensure you go through the finish and let them know.
The route will be clearly marked with marshals at check points and road crossings. If you get lost please call the number you will be provided with at check in. Please stick to the route.
Hard hats (that are the standard of current safety regulations) and suitable riding clothes/footwear must be worn at all times. It is the riders responsibility to ensure their tack is in good working order.
Please only park in the designated parking area for the Sponsored ride. Please bring equipment to take away all your horse droppings.
Dogs must be kept on leads in the parking area and are not permitted on the course.
There is a First Aider based at Silver Leys Polo Club.
There will be toilet facilities on site.
There will be fund raising cake and refreshments available on site
Should the event be cancelled, you will be refunded your entry fee minus and administration fee. Alternatively your entry fee could still be donated to the Herts and Essex Borders RDA which would be much appreciated.
