CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. Health & Safety – Organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers and all the officials and stewards. 2. Legal Liability – Save for the death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers, or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the organisers of this event or The Pony Club nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies, nor the landlord or his tenant, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever. Entries are only accepted on this basis. 3. Non-Pony Club competitors are not covered by The Pony Club insurance and must have their own third party cover. The Fitzwilliam Branch of The Pony Club and the organisers of this event are not legally responsible for non Members and their insurance will not cover you. 4. Safety Rules – Failure to comply with safety rules will result in elimination 5. Photography- By entry to this competition competitors agree to being photographed by the Official Photographer 6. Hats of all competitors must conform to Pony Club regulations – details are in PC Eventing Rule book 2024 (pages 23-25) which can be downloaded at Rulebook-Eventing-2024-Final_Web-v050124.pdf (pcuk.org)– and must be tagged with the joint British Eventing, Riding Clubs and Pony Club PINK tag. Hats must be worn with chinstrap fastened at all times when mounted. Hat tagging at Secretary’s tent. 7. Body Protector NEW– All competitors must wear a body protector that meets the BETA 2018 Level 3 standard (blue and black label) – details at page 27- Rulebook-Eventing-2024-Final_Web-v050124.pdf (pcuk.org) 8. Whips – details at page 29 Rulebook-Eventing-2024-Final_Web-v050124.pdf (pcuk.org) 9. Dress: Cross country colours may be worn. Long sleeves compulsory, 10. The organisers reserve the right to alter, amend or cancel any class and reserve the right to disqualify anyone for the misuse of whip or spurs, dangerous riding or any horse in poor or lame condition. and to refuse any entry for any reason and at their sole discretion. 11. The Judges decisions are final 12. No pony may be ridden by more than one competitor in any one class 13. Age as at 1 January 14. All horses/ponies must have current annual vaccination – passports may be checked 15. By entering their children into this competition parents/guardians are confirming that they have read the above conditions of entry and also agree to ensure that competitors abide and agree to the above conditions of entry
Once entries are closed each class will be given an approximate start time and these will be published on the Fitzwilliam Pony Club Website – https://branches.pcuk.org/fitzwilliam/ by 19 April If you are unable to attend please notify the Secretary at once Numbers will be allocated at Secretary’s tent on the day Tack – Tack and turnout inspection in the Collecting Ring, competitors are asked to allow themselves time before their class for this. Hats, Body Protectors and Whips will be checked to ensure they comply with Pony Club Standards -see Conditions of Entry for further information. About the competition: An encouraging and low-key event designed for genuine novice riders as an introduction to Hunter/eventer Trials. Our aim is that all riders have a positive experience ● Age 14 or under as at 1 January 2024. Ponies 14.2 or under ● In lead rein sections, lead ropes must be attached to the NOSEBAND or via a COUPLING only. The rider must be led with the leader at the shoulder of the pony. The leader must go over the jump at the same time as the pony, not in front. ● Assisted means ONE PERSON can be in the ring with the competitor to provide VERBAL guidance and support. ● Riders in unassisted sections may not receive any outside assistance. ● Class faults will be judged in accordance with XC/SJ sections of Pony Club Eventing Rule Book 2024 (https://pcuk.org/officials/rulebooks/) ● All classes will take place in a roped area in one field ● In the Hunter Trial classes placings are awarded to competitors with best score and closest to undisclosed optimum time (this allows for lead rein & novice riders not speed!) ● In the Eventer Trial classes placings are awarded to competitors with the best score and closest to the undisclosed optimum time (over the Hunter Trial course only). ● In all classes (1 – 8) knockdowns over the hunter trial course will not be penalised.
Prizes ● Rosettes awarded to 6th place and prizes to 3rd place ● Rosette to 3rd place for Fitzwilliam Members in each class ● Special Rosettes to all competitors not placed in Classes 1 & 2 Cups ● Cup for best Fitzwilliam PC member classes 1 section A & B ● Missela Cup for best Fitzwilliam PC member in class 3 section C unassisted ● Gould Cup for best Fitzwilliam PC member in class 5 ● Carlos Shield for best Fitzwilliam member in class 7 ● The two classes eligible for the overall Fitzwilliam Evans Championship Trophy (for Fitzwilliam members only) will be confirmed once entries close. Judged on member with best score and closest to optimum time.
