Mini Competition – 9.30am arrival for 10am start

Junior/Senior Competition – 1pm arrival for 1.30pm start
• Teams to consist of four Members.
• Two Members to be 13 years and under on the 1st of January 2025
• Two members of any age under 25 years on the 1st of January 2025

Teams should wear their Pony Club branded sweatshirts and or T-shirts (shirt and tie are not compulsory), with smart, comfy trousers (no ripped jeans) and suitable indoor footwear.

MINI SECTION:
Questions will be based on the Care and Riding sections of the E, D and D+ Pony Club Tests and Mini Horsemanship Achievement badges.
Question Rounds
A paper of questions with multiple choice answers:
• The Pony Club: Questions based on Structure, Governance, History, Competitions, Tests and Badges.
• Ridden Theory: Questions based on the theory of riding – for example: pressure/release, application of aids, rider position etc.
Activity Games
• Headbands: Basic needs of a pony winter and summer – One member must guess what is on their headband by asking their team closed questions.
• Audio/Visual: Loading – Teams will watch a video and answer questions based on the video content.
Word Games
• The Healthy Pony: Cards with signs of good and ill health will be on the table, the cards need to be paired up by the symptom of ill health and its corresponding good health sign.
• Wordsearch: Safety – taken from the safety sections of the syllabuses and safety Mini Badges.
Identification Rounds
• British Native breeds of pony: Identify British native breeds, what their jobs are, where they are from, colours markings etc.
• Grooming: Know how to use and identify grooming kit, to include questions on clipping, trimming and plaiting.
JUNIOR/SENIOR SECTION:
Questions to be based on the Care and Riding sections of the C, C+ and B Tests and achievement badges.
Question Rounds
The Question rounds will be a paper of questions with multiple choice answers:
• The Pony Club: Questions based on Structure, Governance, History, Competitions, Tests and Badges.
• Ridden Theory: Questions based on the theory of riding, application of aids, rider position, scales of training, related and pole distances etc.
• Understanding What Your Pony Needs: questions based on enrichment, environment, and the mental and physical needs of horses and ponies.
Activity Games
• Headbands: Management of Horses – One member must guess what is on their headband by asking their team closed questions.
• Audio/Visual: Lameness – video clips of sound and lame horses, identify if lameness is present and on which leg.
Word Games
• Wordsearch: Safety – Taken from the safety sections of the syllabuses and safety Achievement Badges.
• Match the pairs: Equine Health and First Aid – Cards with signs of good and ill health, injury and action, scenario and action, will be on the table, the cards need to be paired up.
Identification Rounds
• D&H Pots Feeding: ID photos/samples of feed, forage items, grains etc.
• Bits: Identify bits.
• British Native breeds of pony: Identify British native breeds, what their jobs are, where they are from, colours markings.
The Dodson and Horrell National Quiz Final will take place on the 4th May 2025 at Sheffield Wednesday Football Stadium.

The Organisers of this event have taken every reasonable precaution to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, we ask everyone present to take every reasonable precaution to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must adhere to the instructions of the stewards.
The Landowners, Organising Committee and Officials will not be responsible for any accidents or damage to persons or property arising from any cause whatsoever connected to this competition. Persons attending do so at their own risk.
