Competition Format

Competitors will jump a course of show jumps immediately followed by a course of cross-country style fences some of which may have a knock down top rail. The winner will be the individual with the lowest number of penalties and in the event of a tie, the one closest to the optimum time. Area Competitions may include a joker show jump fence to finish the course if they wish.

Dress

Cross Country compliant XC kit and saddlery should be worn. The Pony Club Saddlery and Dress rules apply at all Area Competitions and the Championships. No jewellery is allowed.

Body protectors and hats are compulsory for this competition and must meet the Pony Club standards for 2023.

Items of tack and saddlery must comply with Pony Club regulations.

No rider may carry or use a whip greater than 75cm or less than 45cm in length overall.

Stop Watches are not permitted.

Entry Conditions

All classes will run in accordance with The Pony Club Spring Festival Arena Eventing Rules 2025 valid for 2024 competitions.

This is an Area Qualifier for the Barrier Spring Festival on 1st – 2nd March 2025 at Addington Equestrian Centre, Buckinghamshire.

Team Competition. Branches/Centres may enter a team of three in each section Arena Eventing Area qualifying competitions. The team members must compete in the same level of competition. The team must comprise of three members and all three scores count. Area / Mixed teams will not be eligible to qualify for the Championships.

Qualification The winning Branch/Centre team at each Area competition will qualify for the Spring Festival. If any of the individual qualifiers are in a qualifying team their place will be passed down the line. Please check the Pony Club Rules or speak to your Branch DC for further clarification. Please could Branch DCs or Team Managers declare your teams by 12noon on Tuesday, 10th December to the Secretary. Absolutely no substitutions/changes on the day!

Riders cannot compete in more than two classes per day. Horses/ponies cannot compete more than once in each class or in more than two classes on the day. Competitors may qualify a maximum of two horses and/or ponies for any one Championship Class.

Riders/horses/ponies and/or a combination of horse and rider can qualify for more than one Championship Class.

Prizes & Prize Giving

Rosettes to 10th place for Individuals and 1st place for the winning Team.

Health & Safety

Save for the death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers, or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the organisers of this event or The Pony Club nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies, nor the landlord or his tenant, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories, or any other personal property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence, breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever. Entries are only accepted on this basis. The organisers of this event have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present at this event. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents. They must obey the instructions of the organisers and all officials and stewards.

COVID-19: 1. All current covid-19 restrictions will be adhered to on the day of the show. We reserve the right to amend the rules should the government change the advice or restrictions.

2. Entry refund policy on covid grounds – if we are unable to run due to no first aid cover or covid-19 restrictions, refunds will be given – minus an admin fee per payment.

Rules

Horses and ponies must be 5-years old and over.

Items of tack and saddlery must comply with Pony Club regulations.

Objections must be made to the Secretary within 5 minutes of the end of the class with a £20 deposit.

No lungeing on the Showground.

At the competition horse/pony may ONLY be ridden by the rider who is competing at the competition.

No refunds after the closing date unless we can replace you off the waitlist. A proportion of the entry fee will only be refunded if a vet’s or doctor’s certificate is produced.

The Organiser may, at her discretion, alter the schedule/rules/running order as required.

The Judge’s decision is final.

It is your responsibility as a Parent to have familiarised yourself with the current Pony Club Rulebook(s) before the competition.
