We are running a one-way system for our event at Bengrove. This is to keep our neighbours happy and to prevent too many larger vehicles passing on narrow lanes. We happily get our 18t lorries through so don’t panic- nothing too narrow!
Arrivals via Alstone, exit via Teddington.
FROM STOW/B4077- Follow signs to turn LEFT off the B4077 towards Alstone, approx half a mile after the Hobnails Pub.
FROM M5/EVESHAM/TEDDINGTON HANDS ROUNDABOUT- Follow the signs to exit the roundabout towards Stow/Winchcombe on B4077, follow the road approx 1.5 miles, then turn RIGHT towards Alstone.
FROM CHELTENHAM/A435- Ignore sat navs telling you to turn right into Teddington, continue STRAIGHT ON to the Teddington Hands roundabout then follow signs to exit the roundabout towards Stow/Winchcombe on B4077, follow the road approx 1.5 miles, then turn RIGHT towards Alstone.
Once turned off towards Alstone, the event will be well signposted and it is just over one mile to the entrance!

On arrival before dressage please head to the Marque (Secretary area where your hat can be tagged) we accept any 2023 Pink, BE, RC, PC OR Horse Events Tag.
COURSE WALKING –
The XC Course will be open for walking between 2pm – 8pm on Friday 30th August for all competitors and during the event on Saturday & Sunday.

Only the 70cm Class are not penalized for going to Slow on the XC Course. However double the optimum time would result in elimination.

Refund minus an admin fee of £10.00 up until Withdrawal date. After the Withdrawal date only refund if replaced from the wait list.
In the unfortunate situation of the event having to cancel all entries will be refunded per class minus an admin fee of £20.00 (Booking fees are non refundable)

Those who volunteer get priority entry at any Horse Events Organised ODE and if waitlisted will be accepted before those that are not providing a volunteer.

Horse Events Unaffiliated Eventing Championships 2024 – Championships 21st & 22nd September Dauntsey Park Horse Trials, Wiltshire 70, 80, 90 & 100cm
Incorporating:
- Amateur ONLY classes
- Open class for young horses
- Schools Equestrian Games Eventing Championships
Unaffiliated Amateur championships
This championship is aimed for the amateur rider who does not class themselves as a professional rider of course this is hard quantify the following criteria have been put in place to encourage a fair competition for all involved. It is self policed as we cannot track past results.
Be placed in the top 7 of eligible starters at any 80, 90 or 100 unaffiliated event hosting a Horse Events Qualifier (HEQ) and be eligible under the following criteria.
Amateur Class Criteria
For the 80cm & 90cm No rider to have competed above BE Novice or equivalent in the last three years.
For 100cm No rider to have competed above BE Intermediate or equivalent in the last three years.Special prizes to be awarded at each height at the Championships
- Highest placed individual that is not employed in any equestrian related field and purely is a Hobby rider with only 1 horse.
- Best Veteran rider over 50
Horse Events Unaffiliated Open Young Horse Championships (4-6year old horses)
Open to ALL levels of rider
(no restrictions on the level you have competed previously at)
Open to 4, 5 & 6yr old horses in their 1st or 2nd year of eventing.
How to Qualify
Be placed in the top 10 at any Horse Events Qualifying competition between 1st March – 10th September 2024
SEG – School Equestrian Games
The SEG Eventing Championships gives children the opportunity to compete for their schools and qualify for the Schools Equestrian Games Eventing Championships.
This is a prestigious series and is the recognised Eventing Championships for all schools, we welcome international schools to compete as well.
How to Qualify
- Top 8 qualify in each SEG section at qualifying competitions
If qualified for unaffiliated Eventing Championships can transfer to compete in SEG if you wish. - Throughout the season the competitions are individual qualifiers
– Teams will then be made at the championships if a schools has enough members from their school who have qualified individually to make up a team. (minimum of 3 in a team) - Teams- Maximum of 2 teams per school per height at the championships.
- Qualification is passed down the line in the event that those placed have previously qualified.
- The same horse and rider combination qualify- no substitutions can be made.
- Each competitor rides for the school they currently attend – school leavers (17/18 years) ride for their previous school.
Championship criteria for all qualifiers
In the event of qualifying for two heights the combination must compete at the championship at the highest height they qualified for.
No horse or rider substitutions at the championships
For Unaffiliated Amateur riders that have qualified and are riding a young horse or at School age the rider can decide which championship class they would like to be entered into. If choosing the Schools Equestrian Games section.

Please remember the Young Horse Class is open to professional and amateur riders.
Only 1 class per horse and rider can be ridden at the championships
In the event of Qualifying for multiple championship classes you will need to decide which championships you compete in. (Amateur, Young horse or SEG)
General Terms & Conditions
- This horse trials will be run under Horse Events Eventing Rules 2024 unless stated in this schedule.
- It is compulsory that all riders wear hats/helmets up to British Standard Riding Hats conforming to the following criteria listed below. NO Fixed peak XC hats will be allowed at any height.
The hat standards accepted as of 1st January 2023 are detailed in the table below: - From 1st January 2024, the Level 3 blue BETA 2018 standard will be required when riding at any Horse Events organized competition. This means the purple BETA 2009 safety certification will no longer be permitted.
- All Hats must carry a Horse-Events Tag or 2023 PINK British Eventing/PC or RC tag
- Riding is a risk sport and it is compulsory that all riders wear body protectors to the latest Beta Standard when going Cross Country – we no longer permit the use of BETA Level 3 body protectors with a 2000 label. Air Jackets may be worn but must be worn over a body protector. It is highly recommended you also wear your Body Protector when Show Jumping.
- It is compulsory that every person entering upon the Horse-Events venue who is under the age of 18 years of age is accompanied by a responsible adult.
- All horses must be vaccinated Horse Events ODE’S work on an annual basis. There must be 6 clear days between any vaccination injection given and the date of the event.
- Event stopwatches are allowed for the Cross Country Phase
- We strongly advise not to bring your dog to the event site. – If you bring your dog to the site please take any dog waste home with you
- The Management of the venue & Horse-Events reserves the right to remove anyone from the course at any time without giving a reason.
- You note and accept there will be a paramedic, technician, doctor and 4×4 ambulance vehicle on site.
- A vet will be present at the event and a farrier will either be present or on call.
- The Event may be cancelled without notice. It is recommended that you check the website former.horse-events.co.uk before departing.
- All horses/ponies must be 4 years and over.
- Fall of competitor in any phase of the event will result in elimination. If competitors fall off in the warm up they must be checked by the doctor before re mounting. All falls must be checked by the doctor before leaving the venue.
- Outside assistance is forbidden and will result in Elimination.
- Riding horses is a high-risk sport and riders taking part in this event acknowledge this and do so at their own risk and that the organisers and land owners will not be accountable or responsible for any loss, damage or injury to rider, horse or equipment however caused, including Covid-19.
