In the unfortunate situation of the event having to cancel all entries will be refunded per class minus an admin fee of £5.00 (Booking fees are non refundable)

Classes as follows: PC70, PC80, PC90 and PC100. Please note that classes will not necessarily run in this order.
All classes run with two sections, one for Pony Club members and one for open riders (with exception of PC70, please see individual class notes).
All phases will run on grass, with the cross-country running on old parkland turf with many dressed take-offs and landings. There is a water jump for all classes.
Our cross country course is designed and built by Guy Herbert.
All classes to run under the Pony Club Eventing Rules 2025.
Class 1: PC70 – 13 years and under (Aged as at 01/01/25). Pony Club members only. Dressage: Preliminary PC70 Test 2022 Show Jumping: Max. height 75cm, speed 300mpm. Cross-country: max height 70cm, speed 435mpm.
Class 2: PC70 – Open to Pony Club members 14 yrs+ (age as at 01/01/2025) and non-members Dressage: Preliminary PC70 Test 2022 Show Jumping: Max. height 75cm, speed 300mpm. Cross-country: max height 70cm, speed 435mpm.
Class 3: PC80 – Pony Club members Dressage: Grassroots PC80 Dressage Test 2018 Show Jumping: Max. height 85cm, speed 300mpm. Cross-country: max height 80cm, speed 435mpm.
Class 4: PC80 – Open section Dressage: Grassroots PC80 Dressage Test 2018 Show Jumping: Max. height 85cm, speed 300mpm. Cross-country: max height 80cm, speed 435mpm.
Class 5: PC90 Pony Club Members Dressage: PC90 Eventing Test 2025 Show Jumping: Max. height 95cm, speed 325mpm. Cross-country: max height 90cm, speed 450mpm.
Class 6: PC90 – Open section Dressage: PC90 Eventing Test 2025 Show Jumping: Max. height 95cm, speed 325mpm. Cross-country: max height 90cm, speed 450mpm.
Class 7: PC100 – Pony Club Members Dressage: PC100 Eventing Test 2015 Show Jumping: Max. height 105cm, speed 325mpm. Cross-country: max height 1m, speed 475mpm.
Class 8: PC100 – Open section Dressage: PC100 Eventing Test 2015 Show Jumping: Max. height 105cm, speed 325mpm. Cross-country: max height 1m, speed 475mpm.
Hats must be of the appropriate standard (no fixed peaks for the cross-country phase) and to be tagged with the pink hat tag. New Rule 2025: Pony Club riders wishing to wear spurs in any phase must have a yellow hat tag.
Please report to the Secretaries on arrival for hat tagging.
Gloves are compulsory for the dressage phase.
Whips (up to length of 102cm) may be carried in the dressage phase for the 70 and 80 sections, but NO whips may be carried in the dressage phase for the 90 and 100.
Whips carried in the SJ and XC phases must be of the padded baton style. Competitors are asked to read the rules, paying particular attention to the whip rules.
Riders must have their shoulders covered as a minimum whilst competing.
Jackets to be worn in the dressage and SJ phases, unless notified otherwise on the day.
Cross-country attire to be worn for the XC phase. All body protectors must meet the BETA 2018 Level 3 standard – the blue and black label. Air jackets are permitted, but where worn, must be over the top of the above noted body protector.
Hat cams and recording devices are not permitted.
Stopwatches are NOT permitted in the 70 and 80 classes, but may be worn in the 90 and 100 classes.

Numbers
Competitors to wear a BE style number bib. Please print your own numbers – these can be printed from www.ponyclubresults.co.uk.
Event timetable
Classes may not run in class height order.
Course Walking
The course will be available for walking on Saturday 17th May between 14:00 and 17:30.
Please note the gates are locked at 18:00.
You may also walk the course on the day of competition, with care.
Insurance
Non Pony Club competitors must have their own third-party insurance in place in order to compete.
Dog
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads.
Litter
Please ensure all litter is taken home as the parkland is grazed between events.
Scores
All scores will be live via www.ponyclubresults.co.uk on the day.
Prizes will be awarded as swiftly as possible at the close of each section.
Please report to the Secretaries for information.
Rosettes to 8th in each section.
Prizes in kind 1st-3rd.
Best Burghley rosettes awarded to the highest placed member of Burghley Pony Club in each PC section.

Save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the organisers of this event nor The Pony Club, nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies, nor the landlord or his tenant, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories, or any other personal property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence, breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever. Entries are only accepted on this basis.
Health, Safety and Welfare
The organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present at this event. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organiser and all officials and stewards.

This event is a Qualifier for the Horse Events National Unaffiliated SEG & Young Horse Eventing Championships 2025 Incorporating:
* Amateur ONLY classes – Riders must meet eligibility criteria to ensure a true amateur class
* Open class for young horses – open to all levels of rider with horse 4, 5 or 6 years in their 1st or 2nd year of eventing.
* Schools Equestrian Games Eventing Championships – the Prestigious Schools Eventing series to find the Schools Eventing Champions.

Entry is deemed to be in acceptance of these conditions:
This event will be run under the Pony Club Eventing Rules 2025.
- Please pay particular attention to hat tagging, the 2025 body protector rules and the baton whip requirements and Pony Club whip rules. Hat tagging available with the Secretaries.
- Horse and ponies to be aged 5 and over as at 1st January 2025.
- Non-Pony Club riders must have their own third-party insurance.
- As a minimum, the rider’s shoulders must be covered when riding.
- Air jackets where worn, must be over the top of a body protector.
- Fall of horse or rider, three refusals at same obstacle or four refusals around the course will result in elimination.
- Dressage commanders are not permitted, with exception of classes 1 & 2 (PC70).
- Competitors eliminated for 3 refusals or incurring more than 24 jumping penalties in the show jumping phase will not be permitted to progress to the cross-country start as a safety measure – unless at the discretion of the show jumping judge.
- Stop watches are not permitted in the cross-country phase for the 70 and 80 classes. Deliberate slowing to the finish will be penalized.
- Hat cams and recording devices are not permitted.
- Any competitor jumping an ‘L Fence’ on the cross-country phase will incur 15 penalties.
- Horses/Ponies should not be left unattended outside horseboxes at any time.
- Dogs are welcome but must be on leads at all times.
- Horses and ponies must have an up-to-date vaccinations for Equine Influenza. The organiser reserves the right to ask for a passport to be presented.
- In the event of abandonment, a £5.00 administration charge will be deducted by The Burghley Pony Club before the balance is refunded. Booking fees are non-refundable.
