In the unfortunate situation of the event having to cancel all entries will be refunded in full minus any booking fees

Cross country dress and equipment to be worn. Cross country colours are permitted.
HATS All hats to be tagged with the pink hat tag – this can be done with the Secretary on the day if required. This is a cross country event and therefore, please note, FIXED PEAK HATS are NOT PERMITTED.
BODY PROTECTORS Body protectors must be worn and must carry the BETA 2018 Level 3 Standard label (blue and black).
WHIPS Baton whips only.
SPURS If spurs are to be worn you should have the yellow hat tag to show you have either done the spurs test or are at C+ level.
RESULTS Results will be available on www.ponyclubresults.co.uk throughout the day. ROSETTES 1st – 8th place in all classes, plus lots of specials and prizes. PRIZE GIVING Prize giving will take place after each class/height.
TIMES Start times will be available on this site, www.ponyclubresults.co.uk and the Burghley Pony Club website after 7pm on Friday 25th April. NUMBERS Competitors to wear number bibs. Please note, competitors must print their own numbers. Number templates are available on this website and www.ponyclubresults.co.uk. WALKING THE COURSE Competitors may walk the course before the start of each new height/course change and not each class – please be prompt.
The competition will run as an Eventer Trial, with competitors continuing onto the cross country element immediately on completion of their show jumping round – unless otherwise advised by the judge on the day. Please note the judge’s decision is final.

Third disobedience of horse in whole course – Elimination (Each refusal, run-out, circle or crossing tracks between fences counts as one disobedience)

Time will be taken over the whole XC course.
Parking will be via the entrance opposite the demolition/building site on Barnack Road – known to Burghley members as the Newage Gate. What3words: swim/game/intent
Parking is on grass.
Please close the gates on entry and exit to the parking field.
Please also keep the gate closed between the parking and competition field.
There will be a photographer present for the day. Photos can be found online after the event.
1. Open to current Pony Club Branch and Centre members only. All Horses must be aged 5 or older.
2. For reasons of safety, no cantering other than in warm up areas and competition rings.
3. The class winners will be decided by fewest penalties, then if equality of penalties, closest to optimum time.
Approximate class times will be available on the website prior to the competition. Any competitor who misses their turn may be disqualified at the judges’ discretion.
4. All competitors must wear a protective riding helmet (as permitted in the Pony Club rules 2025) when mounted with the chin straps fastened. All hats must be tagged with a Pink Pony Club, Riding Club or BE hat tag. This can be done on the day by the event secretary, please allow enough time for this.
5. XC colours can be worn. Body Protectors must be worn and long sleeves are
recommended. Body protectors must have a BETA 2018 Level 3 standard tag.
If wearing spurs you must have a yellow hat tag to show you have done the required spur test or taken the C+ PC test.
6. The decision of the judge is final.
7. The organisers reserve the right to disqualify anyone for misuse of whip or spurs,
dangerous riding or any horse in poor or lame condition.
8. Horses/Ponies must not be left unattended, especially never left unsupervised tied to the
outside of lorries. Please pick-up hay and droppings in lorry park.
Only the competitor may ride the horse on the day at the event.
9. Dogs must be kept on leads.
10. Please note that in assisted classes, the pony must not be led and the assister may not
jump any fences – this is to provide verbal support only.
Legal Liability
Save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers or anyone for whom
they are in law responsible, neither the organisers of this event nor The Pony Club nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies, nor the landlord or his tenant, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories, or any other personal property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever. Entries are only accepted on this basis.
Health and Safety
The organiser of this Event has taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present at this event. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organiser and all officials and stewards.
