• A horse crossing its own tracks between parts of a combination fence (e.g. A and B) will be scored as having refused

• A horse which knocks a flag or a post over will not be penalised if the horse’s shoulders pass the correct side of the flag.

Fall of Horse or Rider and Elimination

• Any fall of horse on any part of the course, (or horse trapped on an obstacle), will incur elimination

The competitor must leave the course immediately

• An unseated rider incurs 65 penalties. The rider may remount and continue if the Judge is satisfied that he or she is fit to do so. If the Judge believes that the rider is not sufficiently fit, he or she will be eliminated and must leave the course immediately

• At the Judge’s discretion, competitors who are eliminated may continue around the course, providing that they give way and do not obstruct any other competitor. However the Fence Judges have the authority to request that the competitor leaves the course at any time. MISUSE OF THE WHIP or DANGEROUS RIDING are examples for which such a request may be made

• See notes on DRESS on Entries page for further clarification of whip rules

Pairs

Pairs

• Competitors will be judged on their ability to jump side by side over fences which have been marked as

“Dressing Fences” on the Course Plan. Penalties will range from zero for a perfectly synchronised jump, to 5 penalties when the two competitors are several horse lengths apart. The scoring for the dressing of fences will be prioritised over the pairs’ overall time taken around the course
