No Refunds after the withdrawal date for whatever reason. Before this date full refunds to be given.

In the unfortunate situation of the event having to cancel 50% of your entry fee will be refunded, minus any Booking fees. This amount will be confirmed  dependent on expenses incurred up to cancellation of event.

Health & Safety

Organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers and all officials and stewards.

Legal Liability

Save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers, or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the organisers of this event or The Pony Club nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies, nor the landlord or their tenant, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever. Entries are only accepted on this basis.

Competition Format

1. Individual and Team competition. Teams must consist of three members and must compete in the same level of competition. All three scores to count. Area/mixed teams are not eligible to qualify for Championships.

2. Competitors will jump a course of show jumps immediately followed by cross country style fences (no more than 20 jumping efforts in total).

3. The optimum time will be based on a speed of 325m/m (PC60 and PC70); 350m/m (PC80 and PC90); 375m/m (PC100). The full course (both Show Jumping and XC sections) will be timed overall.

4. The winner in each class will be the competitor with the lowest number of total penalties (jumping and time). In the event of a tie the winner will be the one closest to the optimum time.

5. Show jumping phase will be run under current PC rules; 4 penalties for a knockdown; 4 penalties for 1st disobedience; 8 penalties for 2nd disobedience; elimination for 3rd disobedience. XC phase will be 4 penalties for a knockdown; 5 penalties for first refusal, run out/circle at obstacle; 10 penalties for 2nd refusal at same obstacle. Elimination for 3rd refusal at same obstacle or 4th refusal around course. Elimination for a fall of horse or rider.

6. No horse may be ridden more than once in the same class.

7. Riders may ride a maximum of three horses at the Area Competition and two horses at the Championships in any one class.

8. Cross Country kit and saddlery should be worn. No stop watches.

Entry information

Combinations (horse and rider) can compete at two adjacent heights if they wish:

PC60 (non-qualifier)/PC70

PC70/PC80

PC80/PC90

PC90/PC100

If entering PC70/PC80, enter for Sat 8 Feb.

If entering PC80/PC90, enter for Sun 9 Feb

If only entering PC80, choose which day.

Class results for PC80 are Sat/Sun overall with presentations on Sunday.

Terms and Conditions
  1. This event is run under Pony Club Barrier Spring Festival Rules for England and Wales 2025 https://pcuk.org/spring-festival/  
  2. Open to all Pony Club branches and centres
  3. Rider’s age as of 1 January 2024
  4. All horses/ponies must be aged 5 or older
  5. The judge’s decision is final
  6. By entering this competition you are agreeing to be photographed whilst competing; these may be used for future publicity
  7. All competitors must wear a skull cap (no fixed peak) to the minimum Standard listed in the Pony Club Hat Rule 2025 at all times when mounted with the chin strap fastened. All hats must be tagged with a Pink Pony Club, Riding Club or BE hat tag.
  8. Whips/Spurs/Stirrups – must comply with Pony Club rules (see Rule Book)
  9. Body Protectors are compulsory and must meet the BETA 2018 Level 3 Standard (blue and black label)
  10. No stopwatches or recording devices (eg bridle camera) permitted(other than use by officials)
  11. All horses/ponies must be compliant with the current Pony Club minimum vaccination requirements. DC or Team manager must sign off that your horse/pony is compliant with the current Pony Club Vaccination rule. A horse with a non-compliant passport will not be allowed to compete
  12. The organisers reserve the right to cancel, amalgamate or change any class
  13. Any abuse of horse/pony or anyone at the event in any capacity will not be tolerated. Including misuse of whip or spurs, dangerous riding, horse in pooror lame condition. Offenders will be asked to leave
  14. Objections in writing with £25 deposit within 10 minutes of class end
  15. Children 16 years and under, and horses/ponies of any age, must not be left unattended. Horses/ponies must never be left unsupervised tied to the outside of trailers and lorries
  16. The Organiser’s and Official Steward’s decisions are final.
