11.30am – Join Racing To School team members in Entertainment Suite. 2025 brochure,
Health and safety
Brief introduction to Sheikh Mohammed’s global breeding and racing operation and mention that Dalham Hall Stud is the headquarters.
Explain that Godolphin has studs in Ireland and England, Japan, Australia and USA.
Explain that Sheikh Mohammed is from Dubai
The world of breeding thoroughbreds including terms such as stallion/mare etc
Explanation of race record (ie Group races/furlong)/progeny record and pedigree (ie dam/sire/granddam/grandsire/colour/size and Black Type etc) via the stallion note book.
11.45am –view stallions and stallion/mare graves. Racing record, pedigree – show the family tree board in the stallion stable, markings, colour, height, DOB. There are currently 12 stallions at Dalham Hall (9 in Ireland, 3 in France).
Show weighing scale and guess weight of a horse
Follow with ‘behind the scenes’ tour – ie follow in the footsteps of a mare when she arrives at stud from unloading ramps/passport office/vet rooms/covering shed to give an insight into how the stud is managed/run on a day to day basis
12.30 – Return to school bus
Coach for a drive to Hadrian Stud to see mares and foals (at this point if the mares/foals are willing the pupils can touch
Pat the horses under supervision
You will need to get to and from the venue in your own transport.
